November 24, 2015: J. Edgar Hoover Foundation's Cartha (Deke) DeLoach Forensic Scholarship Awarded
The Cartha (Deke) DeLoach Forensic Science Scholarship of $10,000 for 2015 was awarded to Alison Simon of Florida International University. Ms. Simon is a PhD student in forensic chemistry. This award is a joint award presented by the J. Edgar Hoover Foundation and the Foundation for the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI. Eileen J. Roemer, Florida Regional Trustee, Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI Foundation made the presentation on behalf of both organizations to Ms. Simon.
September 24, 2015: J. Edgar Hoover Foundation Scientific Scholarship Awarded
The J. Edgar Hoover Foundation Scientific Scholarship of $25,000 for 2015 was awarded to Gina M. Dembinski by Chairman William D. Branon. Ms. Dembinski is a PhD student in biology at Indiana University - Purdue University in Indianapolis, Indiana. She is pursuing a career as a forensic biologist focusing on various aspects of DNA analysis for forensic purposes.
September 29, 2014: J. Edgar Hoover Foundation's Cartha "Deke" DeLoach Forensic Scholarship Awarded
The J. Edgar Hoover Foundation, along with the Former Agents of the FBI Foundation, are proud to announce the recipient of the 2014 Cartha (Deke) DeLoach fellowship in the amount of $10,000. The recipient of the fellowship for 2014 is Barbara L. Fallon and Michigan State University. Read More.
September 26, 2014: J. Edgar Hoover Foundation Scientific Scholarship Awarded
David Preston Miller, a Marshall University Forensic Science graduate student from Dallas, Texas was presented with a check for the $25,000 scientific scholarship at the Forensic Science Center by William D. Branon, chairman of the board and director of the J. Edgar Hoover Scholarship Foundation. Read More.
August 29, 2013: J. Edgar Hoover Foundation Scientific Scholarship Awarded
Andrew Koutrakos, of Shelton, CT, was awarded the $25,000 J. Edgar Hoover Foundation Scientific Scholarship for 2013. William Branon, Chairman of the Foundation and retired FBI Agent, formally present Koutrakos with the scholarship on August 29 in a ceremony at the Henry C. Lee Institute of Forensic Science on the University of New Haven campus. In January, Koutrakos will begin course work at the University of Verona in Italy as part of a three-year international Ph.D. program in legal medicine and forensic science. Read More.
August 2013: J. Edgar Hoover Foundation's Cartha "Deke" DeLoach Forensic Scholarship Awarded
Kayleigh Rowan, of Boston University School of Medicine, received the first Cartha "Deke" DeLoach Forensic Scholarship Award from William Branon, chairman of the board and director of The J. Edgar Hoover Foundation in a ceremony at the School of Medicine in August 2013. Ms. Rowan’s research focuses on understanding the impact of uncertainty in measurement and the impact on forensic DNA interpretation.
August 16, 2012: J. Edgar Hoover Foundation Scholarship Awarded
John McIlroy has been awarded a Scientific Scholarship from the J. Edgar Hoover Foundation. William Branon, Chairman of the J. Edgar Hoover Foundation and retired FBI Agent, visited the Michigan State University campus to present the $25,000 scholarship. John is currently working on a joint Masters in Forensics and a Ph.D in Chemistry. Each year, a Scientific Scholarship in the amount of $25,000 is awarded to a deserving candidate.
